Therapy

FAQ

Do you do small-group therapy?

We do not do dyslexia therapy in small groups. We are dedicated to the needs of each child, as each child experiences dyslexia differently. Each child receives therapy that is diagnostic, responsive, and appropriately paced. This happens best in a one-on-one learning environment.

How often does therapy occur?

Therapy must occur at least twice a week to be effective. Three or four times a week is ideal.  Sessions last approximately 50 minutes.

How long will my child be in therapy?

It depends. Research suggests it takes between 18 months and 3 years of twice-a-week therapy to fully remediate dyslexia. More sessions per week can reduce the length of therapy. The severity of the child’s dyslexia, current age, experience with reading, and compensating abilities all play a part in the pace of remediation. A fully remediated dyslexic student may always read more slowly than his or her peers.
